GreenKidz Supports Kliko Challenge Project

November 2023

In November 2023, in collaboration with Selikor and the GreenKidz Foundation, Passionistas organized the Kliko Challenge for AGO schools. Through this challenge, the foundation aims to stimulate the creativity of students and bring attention to the themes of nature and sustainability. Under the guidance of an artist, students paint a design on garbage bins (klikos) as part of this project. This gives the schools and students a chance to win great prizes.

The AGO schools Juan Pablo Duarte, Joseph Civilis, St. Paulus, Geertruida E.E. Kroon, and SKAIH have been invited to participate in the Kliko Challenge. This project recently started at Juan Pablo Duarte and SKAIH, and in the following weeks, the other schools will join. The Kliko Challenge consists of education, an excursion, and a painting day. GreenKidz provides an interactive class about plastic, recycling, and the use of sustainable alternatives. Before the class, students receive coloring pages to color in. The lesson concludes with a prize for the best coloring page. Additionally, each teacher receives a KoÌrsou Limpi Lesson Book for activities in the classroom.

Each school selects five students to represent them in the Kliko Challenge. This group goes on an excursion and paints a design on the garbage bins. The nature and topics discussed in the GreenKidz lesson should be reflected in the illustrations. The 3 favorite bins will earn the school a voucher of Naf 2000, Naf 1250, and Naf 750, respectively. The students who painted the winning bin (number 1) get to go on a half-day excursion with Irie Tours.

The Kliko Challenge is a project developed by the Passionistas Foundation and has been made possible by sponsors including the Representation of the Netherlands in Willemstad, Stichting Signaal Sosial, Kooyman, Murray Attorneys at Law, Kolektivo, the Central Bank, and Ennia. Additionally, Irie Tours has donated the excursion as a gift, and Van den Tweel Supermarket has provided vouchers to purchase necessary items for the excursion and painting day.

The GreenKidz Foundation was established in 2015 with the goal of ‘Changing the mindset of generations’. In recent years we have reached thousands of students and hundreds of teachers with modern, multilingual environmental education. In the coming years we will focus on young people throughout the Dutch Caribbean with innovative nature and environmental education and (digital) learning programs.
