On January 17, 2024, GreenKidz organized a vibrant Coral Heroes Event at Avila Beach Hotel, a sustainable sponsor of GreenKidz. The Coral Heroes program was conducted for 30 students from the Divi Divi LOM School, a special education school in the ‘Emmastad’ district, who thoroughly enjoyed this educational, creative, and interactive workshop.

Thirty students from grades 4, 5, and 6 participated in various activities to learn more about the coral reef of Curacao and how to enjoy it responsibly. Students engaged in interactive presentations, games, and a creative task where they made a diorama of the reef and the various plants, animals, and fish that live there.

The lesson concluded with a fun and informative tour of the hotel, led by hotel manager Farley Hollander, who showed them various special features of the hotel. Before the children returned in a beautiful Taber Tour bus, they each received a fun Avila souvenir in the form of an environmentally friendly Avila water bottle and a hotel quartet game.

GreenKidz looks forward to many more inclusive educational activities for regular and special schools in Curacao in close collaboration with long-term and sustainable sponsor Avila Beach Hotel. It is our wish and our goal that GreenKidz school activities can always be enjoyed by all children in the Dutch Caribbean.
