Recently, the GreenKidz Foundation launched a new educational program at the Schotborg School in Koraal Specht. GreenKidz coordinator Maya Mathias: “Our Mosquito Prevention program ‘Don’t give mosquitoes a chance’ focuses on awareness and prevention. It teaches children how mosquitoes transmit dangerous diseases, how to detect mosquito hotspots and, above all, how to prevent mosquito bites.

Digital first for Curaçao

The bilingual curriculum (PAP/NED) is GreenKidz’ first blended learning or hybrid program. It combines traditional learning materials with online learning materials that children can follow independently using digital devices. Mathias: For this program, we created a colorful mosquito book with games and puzzles, beautiful mosquito puppets, and educational worksheets and coloring pages. In addition, for the first time we developed a series of mosquito e-learns that children can follow for free in Papiamentu or Dutch from their cell phone, iPad, laptop or computer. That is a first for Curaçao. We want to respond to the trend that more and more children and schools in the Caribbean use digital tools to gain new knowledge.’
